Dr. Osei Kwame “Despite” is a Ghanaian business tycoon who hails from Wiamoase in the Ashanti Region. He was born in February 2, 1962 in his hometown. He wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but rather hussled in his early years.
He was selling music cassette, padlocks, baby feeding bottles and other merchandise at Dunkwa-Offinso. He later joined some friends to Nigeria to seek for greener pastures.
Unfortunately, the Nigerian government deported him together with over 1 million others, the movement popularly known as “Ghana Must Go”.
Upon his return, he started a timber contracting business but he couldn’t succeed after a timber fell on his chainsaw machine on one of his trips.
He later ventured into the music business with Despite stores, marketing, and distributing audio cassettes across the country. That was the beginning of all that he has achieved today. He is currently worth about $150 million.
