She was born in a family of 7, including her six siblings and, mother – Cecilia Agyenim Boateng and her father, Kwabena Nkrumah.

She was still young when her parents had their divorce. This caused the family to be dysfunctional which later led to her and her siblings being adopted by her aunt, Madam Betty her and her husband – Kofi McBrown.

Nana attended St. Peters International Residential School and moved on to study at Minnesota International and then she proceeded to Central International.

Nana furthered her studies at Kwadaso L.A J.S.S, but she eventually dropped out due to finances and could not write her Basic Education Degree, and exams.

Nana eventually went to College of Business where she obtained her secretariat

The actress first was engaged in 2004 to Okyeame Kwame, a musician from the country. The duo was travelling throughout Europe and America promoting her then fiance’s solo release.

As they were travelling, Nana took the opportunity to be part of the African American Documentary which took place in Las Angeles, California. The couple split and decided to end their relationship in 2005.

The actress was congratulated by the likes of Yvonne Nelson, Yvonne Okoro, Mawuli Gavor, Vivian Jill and they shared their wishes and blessings to Nana as she entered motherhood.

The actress had a life-threatening accident in 2013 when she almost lost her life. It was an accident where her Range Rover Sport was smashed on the driver’s side and squashed and the life of Nana and her boyfriend were almost cut short. Nana was only able to talk about the accident a while after she had got medical attention and was almost fully recovered.

Nana believe that was through the grace of God that she survived the accident. As it was speculated, it was believed that Nana’s car was overloaded, but as they eventually evaluated everything, it turned out that it was only the couple in the vehicle, with Maxwell Mawu Mensah.

Nana has also survived being poisoned twice on set while filming in 2019, which she believes that it was out of jealously of how she ended up in the industry and following the successes she has ever since acquired.

As people have different journies, Nana Ama stumbled upon her acting career. The star-actress responded to an auction call on the radio by Mirals films and was hired to do costuming.

During the shoot, Ama was able to imitate the lead role and the director, Samuel Nyamekye, strongly felt that she was better suited for the role and he hired her on the spot.

She had her first movie role in That Day, which was released in 2001 and from there on, her career had launched. As Nana portrayed the best character she could on That Day, she was afforded more opportunities following the role which was a success for the movie.

McBrown started getting gigs from different producers and film directors. She was featured on films, television series and documentaries. Her name was undeniably growing in the industry.

She acted on the movie Asoreba co-starring Agya Koo and Mercy Aseidu, which eventually turned her into a household name. Nana has since had a strong following and releasing a couple of movies in which she shows nothing, but the notable notch of her acting.

The “Madam Moke” actress has appeared in over 40 movies in her acting career and has received numerous awards. She has been awarded Best English Actress, Best Actress in Leading Role, best traditional movie and Best story at the Kumawood awards, in 2011.

As an entertainer and a renowned actress, she earned the award, Favourite Actress at the Ghana Movie Awards in 2016. She was later awarded the Eurostar Best Dressed Female Celebrity on the red carpet at the 2016 Ghana Movie Awards. The actress has also banked Golden Actress in a comedy movie, Side Chic Gang at the Golden Movie.

Nana was judged for the image that she shared on social media kissing her baby. The video made its way to the American News station, FOX 5 which discussed how nasty it was of her to “lick” her babies face. Responding to the critics, Nana mentioned that she carried the baby on her own without the help of the public.

The actress was also accused of being the voice behind an audio that was insulting the President John Mahama. The video trending across social media sees a woman knocking on the head of the NDC Presidential Candidate.

Many who viewed the video seemed to think Nana Ama was behind the video however in a disclaimer she released on social media she distanced herself from the video.

Nana and her husband, Maxwell – are firm believers of giving back to society, as they believe that they can make a change for those who are suffering and need assistance. McBrown responded swiftly by saying that she is the one who carried the baby for nine months and she gave birth to her daughter without the public.

They give back to society in the form of giving food to different charities throughout Ghana.

Throughout her contributions, Nana McBrown is estimated to be worth $400,000 and this is through her sponsorships, acing and television hosting.

Nana is the kind of woman that will not let anything get her down. She solely focused on working to give her baby Maxine all that she deserves and she just loves her job.
